Torque

Torque, in simpler terms, is the strength of the engine.
Horsepower
Horsepower, on the other hand, is the rate at which work is done. It is the measurement of how fast a vehicle can do work. Horsepower determines the speed of a vehicle; the higher the horsepower of a vehicle is, the faster it could run.
Torque versus Horsepower: Which is more important?
Both torque and horsepower are important in virtually every vehicle but the question of which should be favored depends on the type and purpose of the vehicle. Vehicles that are built to run at great speeds such as sports-oriented cars usually produce higher horsepower than torque.
On the other hand, bigger vehicles such as trucks and buses produce more torque than horsepower because they are more oriented to pull huge amounts of load than reach high speeds.
