WE ARE FINALLY free from another Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) as most of the regions in the country, including Metro Manila, reverts to General Community Quarantine (GCQ). Expect more relaxed crossings between provincial borders and, of course, a tighter traffic situation especially in the capital region as non-essential travel is once again allowed.

There are two big news for truckers this week:

Oil prices pump up this week

Unioil Petroleum Philippines forecasts that another oil price hike is set to drop for September 21 to 27, pumping the prices of both diesel and gasoline from ₱0.80 to ₱0.90 per liter. The hike is caused by the growing global demand for oil, as well as the impact of Hurricane Ida on the production in the United States. So far, it is the fourth weekly oil price hike streak.

MMDA suspends truck ban until further notice

We gave you the bad news, but we also got some good news for you: the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) extended the suspension of the truck ban in Metro Manila indefinitely. Earlier this month, the agency had suspended the truck ban until September 7 but is now extending it until further notice. The MMDA says the move is necessary to keep a smooth flow in the supply chain of essential goods.
